Having qualified in medicine at the London Hospital Medical College, David Edwards then worked in hospitals in Chelmsford, Cambridge and Bristol for several years and trained as a General Practitioner in Tetbury, Gloucestershire before accepting a GP partnership in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. He has a post graduate degree in Medical Anthropology which has developed his interest in Herbal Medicine and has included a discussion with HRH The Prince of Wales. At present he combines part-time family medicine and is a Specialist in male and female Sexual Dysfunction undertaking clinics, research ( on a wide range of medical conditions) advisory boards ( both as a member and chair), lecturing( both locally and internationally) and writing.
Media work (mostly live presentations together with some pre-recorded) has included BBC1 (Panorama), Ch4 (Embarrassing Bodies) BBC3, BBC Radio 4 (Women’s Hour) and numerous local radio stations. He is immediate past president of the British Society of Sexual Medicine and has been on the scientific committee of several international sexual conferences. Historically, he was an ad hoc member of the NICE committee for Type 2 Diabetes, and a founder member of the Men’s Health Expert Policy Group which endeavours to bring men’s health issues to the notice of the Government. He is a trustee for COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists) and Chair of the recently formed Primary Care Testosterone Advisory Group (PCTAG).
